It was his lifelong dream to one day establish his own Medjool palm plantation.<\/p><p>In 2021, the opportunity arose to acquire properties in the small village of Koingnaas, where the zoning regulations permitted the development of a palm plantation within the village itself.<\/p><p>The zoning also allowed for urban farming, enabling the integration of chickens, rabbits, and goats to produce natural fertilizer. This organic material now plays a vital role in nourishing the palms and supporting sustainable cultivation.<\/p><p>Following the acquisition of the properties between 2021 and 2022, a formal presentation was made to the municipality outlining the intended purpose and long-term vision for the land.<\/p><p>The presentation made it clear that this is a multi-year initiative with a steep learning curve for all participants. Over the next five to seven years\u2014and as funding permits\u2014the project aims to establish the following key components:<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=717\">Palm Academy<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=718\">Research Centre<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=719\">Incubation Centre<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=888\">Micropropagation Laboratory<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=892\">Date Palm Plantation Management Software System<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/palmfoundation.co.za\/?page_id=1423\">Palm Forest &amp;
